West Lothian

Hi, I'm Gavin Thomson and I am the SU worker for West Lothian.

I started in this job in August 2010 having moved from K2, a SU associate trust in North East Fife, and am balancing the dual role of working 2 days a week in West Lothian and 3 in West Edinburgh.

My role is to grow and support the work with children, young people and their families in West Lothian.  Much of this work will be done in schools where most young people spend a great deal of time.  In the schools I am looking to be involved with supporting existing and setting up new SU groups, being available to schools for assemblies with religious observance input and for religious and moral education classes.  As well as working in schools I hope to be working with and alongside the churches in the area to encourage and equip them as they seek to share the good news and disciple youngsters in their area.

As you can imagine there is much to do and many people are required to be involved in order to maintain and grow the work.  The tasks are wide ranging, from cooking or driving a minibus on a residential event, leading or helping at a school SU group or praying for or getting involved with your local school.
