Introduction

Hi, I'm Jen Robertson.  I work in Lanarkshire in partnership with Hamilton Presbytery of the Church of Scotland.  As part of my role I am looking to support and enable chaplains and churches to create and sustain positive partnerships with their local schools, and to help churches find their own style and pattern for their children's and youth ministry.

If you want to chat, please get in touch using my contact details above.  Your prayers and support are essential as we work together to give all young people in Lanarkshire an opportunity to explore the significance of Jesus Christ for their lives."

Easter code: Can you crack it?

The Easter Code is an event for P7's to explore the Easter Story in their local church. The pupils arrive to a transformed church hall. Filled with 5 tented areas each containing a different part of the holy week story. After a short introduction, and a run around quiz on chocolate, they had the chance to explore each tent. They experienced the sharing of Passover, the serving of feet washing, the struggle of Gethsemane, the sacrifice of the cross, and the seeking of the crowds. To finish off the morning they gathered back together to find out the next bit of the story - Easter Sunday, and to take time to reflect on what Easter may mean for them.

Here are some of the comments from the review sheets…

  • "Very well organised, the children were engaged through all the activities."
  • "Everyone was very enthusiastic and this helped the children and motivated them to learn and join in."
  • "A thoroughly organised, planned and well presented programme."
  • "The interactive activities helped the children gain a greater awareness of the Easter story."

The children left with a Take This leaflet (check out the website for these magazines http://www.takethis.org.uk/) and a palm cross.

A great new CD

Fischy music have a great new CD out called "Down to Earth" - the title song says…

"He could have been born in a royal palace
And called your majesty
Worn a crown of diamonds
And lived in luxury
But he was born in a dirty stable
And laid on a bed of hay
Not too many welcomed him
On that very first Christmas day

He is down to earth
He is down to earth
The one who changed the world forever is down to earth'

Check it out on their website http://www.fischy.com/. While you're on there have a look at "The angry hotel man" an excellent easy to organise nativity play.
