The Independent School sector educates approximately 5% of Scotland's pupils, with the proportion reported to have remained stable over the past decade. Independent schools include mainstream, special needs and specialist schools. The mainstream schools include small and large, day and boarding, preparatory, junior and senior, “all-through”, boys, girls, co-educational and faith schools.
Like other regional workers, our independent schools staff support the leaders of SU and other groups, take part in assemblies and chapel services, make classroom contributions as requested and lead weekend programmes.
Katy Miller is the Regional Worker for the Independent Schools in East Scotland which includes Edinburgh, the Lothians and Borders. More details can also be found on her web page (linked below).
Our key volunteer support comes from the Independent Schools and Edinburgh Action Groups and the Independent Schools Prayer Groups in Glasgow and Edinburgh. If this is something you might be specifically interested in, or if you are interested in becoming involved with a specific school, please drop us a line using our details below.
