Hi, I'm Lesley Crawford, the es-team worker for the South Edinburgh area which includes:

Boroughmuir High
Gracemount High
James Gillespie's High
Liberton High
Tynecastle High
along with all their associated primary schools and 4 special needs schools within the area.

There are many open doors in schools and it has been great to be involved in a variety of ways - supporting SU groups, leading assemblies, taking part in RME lessons and leading Christmas and Easter presentations.

It has also been great over the last few years to use Bible Alive in a number of Edinburgh schools.  Bible Alive is a programme designed to give children in P5-7 an overview of the Bible as part of the RME curriculum using props, costumes, music, drama, video clips and sign language.  In April 2011 Scripture Union took over the running of Bible Alive and I have taken on the role of Bible Alive Co-ordinator with responsibility for organising training courses and developing the programme.  More information on Bible Alive can be found here.

As well as schools work I am involved with other events such as The Big One for P4-7s from around the city and Powerpoint, youth event for S1-6, as well as various SU weekends and holidays.  Details of events and weekends for children and young people from Edinburgh can be found on the main es-team page.

I also take part in SU's programme of holidays for young people during the Easter and Summer school holidays.  In 2011 I led the first Junior Music Holiday at Lendrick Muir and had a great week with the young people exploring the Bible and enjoying the usual Lendrick Muir activities, as well as practising music together and working towards a concert which friends and family were invited to at the end of the week.  I will be leading this camp again from 14th-21st July 2012 so if you know of any young people from P6-S2 who might be interested in this, please spread the word.  Further information can be found at http://www.suholidays.org.uk/holidays/music_holidays.php

If there is anything I can do to support your school or church, or if you'd like to find out more about the volunteering opportunities in South Edinburgh or supporting the work in prayer, then please do get in touch - I'd love to hear from you.
