Hello there!
Hope your SU group is getting under way - I'd love to come and
visit two or three times this year, if you'll have me.
Please email me at the address above, or phone me on 07545 061117
and suggest a date or two. I'll be able to enthuse about the
weekend away to Lendrick Muir, talk more about Totally Random, but
above all, I'll be challenging young people to follow Jesus from
the Bible.
Please do all you can to bring your group along to the Totally Random event in your area - they're fun, challenging and good for your group! Do come with your group, if you can, and meet other leaders too. Publicity is enclosed, but I could get you some more, if needed.
Bookings for week-long SU Holidays can now be taken via the SU website on www.suholidays.org.uk so do encourage your young people and their parents to take a look and book. The brochures won't be printed until Christmas, but we do depend on you to pick up a bundle of brochures, ready to give out in your school on the first week or so in January. Have a special SU Holiday meeting in January, you can show the DVD directly from the website if you've got a smart board.
In particular, you can advertise one summer SU Holiday with travel from Glasgow…
Do consider joining the team at one of these weeks! Do ask your school management if I can advertise the holidays in your school.
I enjoy leading lots of lively assemblies in schools in the area, with music, drama, storytelling and from the Bible. I've got space for more, so do ask your head teacher whether an assembly or two might be possible this year. They are valuable in themselves, and they also allow me to talk to management in schools with a view to getting to know them and offering further SU services to schools. I lead seven assemblies each year at Lennoxtown Primary, and have built up quite a large amount of good material.
There's a local SU Action group meeting regularly in your area to pray for schools work, to organise events and weekends, and to support SU group leaders like yourself. Do get in touch with the leader of your Action Group to keep them informed or to ask for support - I meet with them regularly! They lead a team of volunteers who are serving Christ in SU ministry.
Do keep going with SU Scotland, and do invite others to join in this amazing ministry with Scotland's young people - the opportunities are incredible, and the resources are infinite! Do keep in touch and do drop a line to tell some stories of what you've seen happening in your group!
Yours in him,
Kenny McKie
