Associate Worker Scheme
The Associate Worker Scheme is a partnership between Scripture Union and groups of churches in different areas of Scotland to employ Youth Workers who will work in the schools and with the churches.
There are now a number of schemes in place, enjoying the benefits of having a full-time worker in their area with the backing that Scripture Union can offer.
In schools the worker would be very likely be involved in establishing and running SU groups, taking assemblies, getting involved in RE programmes and organising Christian Focus Weeks. The worker will be able to have much more input at the local level to the extent that they may well be invited to take up chaplaincy work in their schools, which is an exciting development.
The church role would be that of encourager, enabler, and trainer for the existing youth leaders in churches. The worker would not be expected to run all the YFs in the area but be able to resource them. This work may include: establishing youth leader forums, helping to organize local youth events, and organizing holiday club training.
The worker is line managed by a Regional Worker from Scripture Union and the Finance department of Scripture Union handles all aspects of payroll.
